John Lawrence Sullivan Fall/Winter 2015

John Lawrence Sullivan’s fashion designer Arashi Yanagawa has presented a Fall/Winter 2015 collection that seems to borrow from Terry Gilliam’s Brazil movies or Jacques Tati’s Playtime. Definitely retro-futurist, it is made of innovative cuts and materials.
There is an obvious contrast between the neutral shades of the clothes and their colorful details. Orange yokes are sewed on the shoulders of a classic suit jacket. A grey and white silhouette is completed with a silver perfecto that gives it attitude.
Even if an strong attention is given to details in this collection, minimalism is part of the designer’s identity. His work is based on fluid trousers, straight coats and textures. A Fall/Winter 2015 collection that shows how behind this minimalist characteristic, the technic is mastered and falsely simple.
