Graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2007 and now relocated in Hong Kong, Vanessa Tao launched her eponymous label in 2013. Two words would be enough to describe her collections: feminine and graphic. In her Spring-Summer 2014 collection, she designed colorful silhouettes and made ruffles one of her signatures. She showed us a strong capacity to give modernity to classic pieces. For Autumn-Winter 2014, she combines clean cuts, funny prints and ribbon embellishments that have reinforced her designs’ DNA.
This season, Vanessa Tao celebrates summer and its symbols: beach, sea and sand. Needless to say that ruffles are part of the collection, giving this feminine aspect to silhouettes, as well as clean cuts and shapes for a chic result. Two different inspirations are identifiable here. Navy ones are visible thanks to the important use of Breton stripes, of indigo blue and yellow throughout the collection. Besides, the palm tree leaves print makes us think of Tropics and their relaxed mood. Sporty silhouettes are also part of the collection this summer, which breaks with the usual girly spirit of Tao’s designs.
